Our horses are pure bred, registered Icelandic horses. They have contributed to the research projects at Cornell University to find novel treatments for Culicoides hypersensitivity (also known as summer eczema), to develop better vaccines for and characterize immunity and protection against Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1), and to explore vaccination and immunity against Lyme disease in horses. The horses are now looking for a second career as a pleasure riding, trail, or sports horse.
Young Horses Born in 2021 or 2022
The following Icelandic horses, born in either 2021 or 2022, can be reserved. They can leave Cornell University in spring 2026 when they are turning five or four years of age, respectively. If you would like to reserve one of these horses, contact Dr. Bettina Wagner for details on the process. A reserved horse will no longer be offered for sale; it stays in the herd of young Icelandic horses at Cornell until spring 2026 when it can be picked up by the new owner. More pictures will be added soon.

Sædís frá Söguey
Sædís frá Söguey is a 14-year-old chestnut mare. She is about 14 hands and was imported from Iceland in 2016. Sædís is sensitive, energetic, and a bit shy. However, she connects well with some people, and if she does, she is likely a great horse for that person. From all we know she has not been ridden or only for a very short time as a young horse. At Cornell, Sædís was in the breeding herd and had several foals. She is not a beginner horse and needs an experienced owner/rider who likes a little bit of a challenge. Sædís can leave the project anytime.
